I have known Julie and Dan for a long time, and I was pleased to finally get to photograph their family! Worried if the weather would look too drab as for our outdoor setting, I assured them that we would be able to grab some color from the almost barren gold trees in the courtyard at the studio. Family Portraits with the Sjobergs

Meet the Sjoberg family! David, Carly, Haley and Max! What a blast! Stay tuned in the upcoming couple of weeks, when I post more images from Carly's senior portraits! She's a Susan Stevison Photography model. I met with David and his family a while back and we discussed Carly's senior portraits, but also the need for a family photo from their home. It had been a while since they had a family portrait. We get so busy in school, work and extracurricular activities that our time flies by and before you know it....kids are GRADUATING from high school! I can relate! So, there is no better time than the present and not to mention the HOLIDAYS! We ended up creating a family portrait for the home, a collage of the kids, some heirloom photographs for the family album and Christmas cards. What a great idea. Now everyone in their family will have an updated portrait, holiday greeting card and some pictures for the home and the family album. Thanks Sjobers! I really enjoyed getting to know each of you. I look forward to finishing up Carly's senior portraits and creating a great memory of this special time in her life!

Dametria & Roderick are married!

I've just returned from a wonderful wedding in Alexandria. I was fortunate to be invited to photograph Dametria and Roderick's engagement and Dametria's bridal portraits within the last month...and today was their wedding! Dametria was one of the most beautiful brides I have ever photographed! She was stunning to say the least. One of my favorite wedding photo opportunities during the ceremony is when the groom sees his bride walking down the aisle! But, Roderick held it together, looked down, and then back up with a smile....I got it! I'm so fortunate to be able to photograph, but photograph moving events...that allow me to reflect on my life and experiences...and appreciate them even more. Thank you Roderick and Dametria! I've posted a few pictures from their engagement and her bridal portrait session. Really some of my favorites. I'll post a few images from the wedding as I process them. The Williams family portrait session

I had a great time photographing Jaime and her family! It was a tad bit hot, and they hung in there! Thanks BRAD! But, you wouldn't know it if I did not tell you? The kids had a great time, and I feel that we captured some great images of her family! We put together a giclee - wrapped canvas collection for her to display on a large wall in her home. I met Jaime a couple years ago! She has an awesome cake business and has branched into making a variety of sweet treats! {The Cake Barn} She's truly artistic, creative and a genuine person! I absolutely love her kiddo's too! I brought my 9 year old Madeline to the portrait session consult, at the farm, and she didn't want to leave! We (my family) now has the bug....we are looking for a home about 15 minutes from town with some property. What a blast and an adorable family! John Thomas

I had a great time getting to know and photographing John Thomas from West Monroe High School a few weeks ago! He's a HS Sr. looking forward to attending La Tech after graduation. His family came along for the senior portrait session, and we were able to grab some fun shots of the family too. Really fun!!! His sister Ann can't wait till next year when she gets to take her pictures with me! She's adorable....I can't wait either. John Thomas loves his truck and playing guitar! He's an outdoors kindof' guy too. We really captured his personality and put him at ease! His grandfather came by too! He used to work in the store downstairs from my studio when he was in college at Louisiana College ! I love my photography studio loft, but more than that...I love the stories that I hear everyday. Thanks y'all! I really love my spot here on Main St., and Pineville! Thanks to the Bryant family I have a lot of information to pass on as I speak with my customers and neighbors here at the studio! I was invited to photograph Anistin a few weeks ago, and it took us a little time to get acquainted and used to each other. We should have started off w/ the make-up session at the vanity first. But, all in due time! August in a Nutshell

I just wanted to report that we are still here...just a bit lackadaisical. But, that happens when summer was a blast and it passed too quickly!

For starters, the beginning of August started with the state convention in New Orleans, for the Professional Photographers of Louisiana. I joined many friends for a star-studded evening, print competition, and education from out of state speakers. Then off to Missouri for a short vacation with my family, and back to Louisiana to get my daughter and husband ready for the 2012 school year. I also was asked by the American Cancer Society to photograph their Boots & Bow ties Fundraiser and I donated a portrait session fee and wall portrait to their live auction! Looking forward to that....I'll post a few pics from their event here in the next day or so.

In the next couple of weeks, we will announce some early family portrait session specials....for the Mom's that are less procrastinating than ME! We will get the family portraits done and cards ready before you can say St. Nick!

Our H.S. Sr. portrait sessions began about a month ago....having seniors coming in from Monroe, at that. We will be looking for a few select Sr. reps this year.

Santa Portraits will be here in November. LSU Santa will arrive on Friday, November 18th and he will stay over until November 19th. with his traditional theme. This will be our third year! We will offer some extra special packages for this promotion and 100% of your session fee will be donated to the St. Jude Organization!!!!

Last week I had a great time getting to know Meredith better. Her father inquired about having a formal portrait of her taken, before she moves on to another chapter in her life, college. I could have photographed her for hours at their home! I've posted a slide show and some individual images from her session to this blog and

Hadley turns 1

I have had a blast getting to know Hadley! She's 1 and I've been so lucky to document her through the ups and downs of 1 year. We got to visit w/ Santa, hang w/ her family and sister, & go to the park....She's so cute and doesn't let anyone (especially her sister) push her around! This little one will be just fine!

Jaimie and her family

What an opportunity to photograph Jaimie and her mom! Jaimie gave her mother the gift of a Mother-Daughter for Mother's day....and we were able to get together at the family home and photograph under one of the most beautiful oak trees in the area! Louisiana and her old Oak trees have been one of my obsessions for a long time, especially when I was shooting photography in college. I would get lost in photographing trees all day long and then later lost in the dark room all night long, printing.

Sarah + Scott

I have enjoyed working with Sarah & Scott! We met last year around the Christmas holidays to do engagement photos. I had met Sarah's parents a few months earlier at the new studio location grand opening through some friends, Kimberly and Kim Jones. What a small and quaint little area we live in? I love it here! Anyhow, I've really enjoyed meeting Sarah and Scott, and their family and friends too! Sarah and I followed up with her bridal portraits in Woodworth at Camille and Keith Patton's home! A great backdrop for some cute and fun bridal portraits....and I have to mention how CALM AND ACCEPTING her Dad, Kenny was! He hung in there with us while we photographed her bridal portraits.....a little fearful of the dress still being in one piece after our session :) But, all turned out great and Sarah looked beautiful! I absolutely fell in llllllove with precious Ferdinande the goat! You'll see HER in a few of the bridal shots :) Wedding day was fun too. I joined Sarah and some of her bridal party at the beauty shop, Lady J's...and fell in love with her flower girl! If she were up for adoption, she would be a Stevison by now. But her Daddy, Sarah's uncle would NOT have that :)

I was chatting with some photography friends last night over dinner and we were chatting about what is our favorite part of the wedding we enjoy photographing the most? I have to say the photojournalist in me LOVES the reception. But, I love when he first sees her either walking down the aisle or when they meet before the ceremony to start taking pictures. I also love the father daughter dance! I guess I relate :) I also, love love love the garter and bouquet toss! Anyhow, I do know that I love the action & story telling. I try to have the photos narrate the story to the viewer, without any words. :) Hopefully, Sarah, Scott and their families feel this? Thank you for allowing me to spend time with you and your families and get to know you! I hope that you are as pleased with your pictorial story as I am :) Thanks again and Enjoy!

Congratulations to Sarah & Scott! I just finished their wedding and I'm uploading their images...so, what better time to blog? It has been a while, and I think that the last time I thought to blog was, when I had photographed Sarah's bridals. That is another blog for another day....

I'm so fortunate to have meet the Ogles and Erwins! I met Sarah & Scott last year, and photographed them while they were home for the holidays. We went to the Red River and some beautiful areas around Central Louisiana. What a fun couple! Hope you like....and bridals and wedding images soon to come!

We had a two part session...a few weeks ago. The first one was our standard indoor (studio-loft) and outdoor session, but his second part of the session involved his favorite sport, wake-boarding!

With the help from his Mom and Dad, we were able to get some fun shots of him in the family boat, with the wake board at Kinkaid Lake. Only if it were a little warmer...

Ashley's High School Senior Portraits

Class of 2011 is in full swing! Within a couple of months our high school seniors will be driving off into the sunsets of Florida for their Sr. trips. Then they will be turning into their dorms or apartments at their new schools.....at least for the next four years. But, for now, I am having a blast photographing seniors from all over the area! This is such a fun time for them (and me too!) I try to show each individuals personality in his/her portraits. I want to photograph them in their natural surroundings, but also present them with some real beautiful portraits that they will treasure for many years to come....and their parents will appreciate too.

With that being said, I had a fun time photographing Ashley at her home, along the central la area and in/around my studio.

We captured the child within her, who LOVES Disney World, her passion for Toms Shoes and the company's mission, long time love of soccer, home, water, her spirituality and faith. That's about Ashley in a nut shell.

Emmalynn....as she is today :)

Emmalynn is getting SO big! I really enjoy working with families and babies for the first year. Not only do I get to see the family grow together, but I get to see the baby hit some major milestones. When Emmalynn came in for the first time....she was so little and tiny and crossing the line from newborn to infant. But, when I photographed her more recently she is developing a new little personality and character! She's so precious! I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next time we meet up? She'll be around 8 months old.....showing me how she crawls and even maybe pulls up? She will definitely have some more cute facial expressions! Stay tuned :)

Just another chilly day in the studio (warehouse)....I can't believe that I am saying this, but I am looking forward to the summer? Summers are hot here...but, it's easier to cool down this studio than warm it up! I'm hanging in there with my little heaters scattered throughout the studio and bundled in my long heavy sweater.

Today I met a real estate agent: JP Pruitt! What a neat and fun lady. Automatically, we hit it off! Chatted and chatted, and if any of you know me....you know I can chat! I love talking about my family and my wonderful husband and his mission that he has at being a great teacher and instrument in his Jr. high kids lives. But, we also chatted about how JP has been in the real estate business for over 25 years! She was in Kentucky, Texas and now Louisiana! She moved to Louisiana in 1989 (same time I moved here too). I love Louisiana and it's my HOME...just like with JP! She also brought a friend with her today; Rose Mary. She was fun to chat with too. We both have elementary school age children. That was fun chatting about how our little one thinks he/she are already little adults!

Mardi Gras 2011

It's that time of year, and we are in the middle of the Mardi Gras Season! I've had so many FUN Mardi Gras in Louisiana! I've been here over 20 years, and I've never missed one! I've photographed Mardi Gras in Lafayette, while in College at U.L. working for the Vermilion newspaper. I then hit the country-side to photograph Mardi Gras "Old Style" for the Daily World newspaper, in Mamou, Opelousas, Churchpoint, Washington and Eunice! I was able to photograph many Lafayette Mardi Gras and the festivities, but I was privledged to photograph some Mardi Gras Queens this year! It's been hard for me to keep it quiet! If you know me...it's hard for me to keep a secret let alonge QUIET : ) LOL. So, the cat's out of the bag and I get to show off ONE OF THE QUEENS today. I'll show the other off in a few days. But, today I am showing off some great pictures of my friend and fellow Junior Leaguer; Sunny Gulley-Queen Mariposa XI. As I worked on these images the other day, I couldn't help but smile while I was editing! He's such a cutie, and when he smiles it's infectious! You smile too! I love babies....and who doesn't? But, this little guy is so special and absolutely beautiful! I could eat him up....Yes. HE is so sweet! I caught myself laughing and smiling the whole time while his mommy and I previewed and chose her favorites. I can't imagine him getting any more adorable? The Morris Family

One of the last photo sessions for 2010 was with the Morris family. I initially met the Morris' about four years ago, when photographing the full family for their Mom & Dad. High School Sr. Elise Fontenot was one of the last H. S. Seniors that I photographed in 2010....She is a 2011 H. S. M. High School Sr. and there are just a few months, to get H. S. I can't believe that it has been 21 days since my last post! I am ready to relax and enjoy the family filled holiday. But, for the moment and the next couple of days....I'm hard at work in the studio, filling the last bit of holiday Christmas orders, gift card orders, and yes....Christmas cards. Somehow, Christmas snuck up on us AGAIN! I caught myself telling a customer yesterday, "Have a nice Halloween." WHAT???? It seems as if we just finished off the candy, in the trick or treat pumpkinm, at our house? Now we are whistling, Chestnuts roasting on an open fire?

One thing I can say about the holiday, is that we had a blast photographing Santa and all the kiddos! I'm going to post a few pictures here and a few at our FACE BOOK studio fan page. This was our second year involved in the fund raiser and we raised 725.00 for St. Jude's! Santa Jack aks Santa's Vice President! This year we were only able to get Santa for one day. Maybe next year we can have him come in his Saint Nick attire one day, and New Orleans Saints suite the next day? He's so awesome! Last year Jack and many helpful folks in Louisiana raised $8000.00 for St. Jude's! I can't wait to see what he raises this year? I applaude his generosity and I love the magical day that appears in front of me when Santa visits!

Another thing that I can say about the holidays is I love getting to see the families grow and change from the previous year when I photographed them. It's like my REAL Live Photograph Christmas card :) I hope all of you that read the blog, visit us on face book and partake in the Susan Stevison Photography business, know how grateful I am to you for your business! Each customer is special and memorable. I appreciate you all letting me take part in preserving your memories through photography! It's been a little busy here lately....but, I wanted to post a little about Connie Lawson! She's this years Christmas Festival's Miss Merry Christmas in Natchitoches, LA...still in high school at that! Holiday Short Sessions are being scheduled NOW!

In the past, I've usually set aside one weekend in the month of November to do "special" short or mini type sessions. But, this year, I'm going to make it a bit easier. This year from 11-1-10 to 11-19-10 I'm offering our session fee of $75.00 for the short session. The session fee also includes a face book image, and 1 - 5x7 print. It also grants you 50% off of your second box of holiday cards!!! The session allows us to photograph for 20 minutes...just enough time for the busy family to step into the studio and get a great family portrait for the holiday card or holiday gift. Willow bench meeting place

I had the opportunity to photograph the downstairs meeting place the other day when they had an event with KLAX. I ran down and took a few images while the group was setting up! They did a nice job...and I'm sure that it even looked better once they were finished. It looks like they had a lot of fun! Anyhow, I just thought that I would show you all what a great spot the downstairs offers for any meeting, banquet, reception, shower or gathering! Grand Opening - Open House

Our Grand Opening - Open House last Friday was so nice...and it wouldn't have been without the help of my family and friends! Especially Logan Farms, The Town Talk, Opus Broadcasting-Sunny 106.9 Fm, Always Yours Flowers by Shelia, The Cake Barn and Hokus Pokus! We had such a nice turn out! One thing that we didn't get to do is....give out the door prizes! No one knew where the drawing bowl was at? I didn't have a sign in! There is always something!!! But, I had the drop-your-name-in-the-drawing-bowl sitting at the wine table! So, if you feel disappointed that you missed the opportunity to take part in the drawings, don't despair! All I can say is WOW! It was a marathon Sr. portrait session! Driving around Cenla with Kaitlin and her MOM! We also, used some neat areas of my studio too. Kaitlin also brought along her boyfriend and scruffy little puppy for a few shots too! Kaitlin loves to sing. So, we had to incorporate my ELVIS microphone!!! I LOVE IT! Also a shout out thank you to NTY - Sondra, for saving the day on our cowboy boot dilemma! All in all I had a great time and hope that Kaitlin remembers the day with fond memories!

SLR Digital Photography Class Offered in Pineville, LA

Pineville LA - SLR digital photography class.

I am offering a photography class in the months of October and November, 2010 this year.

Just in time to brush up on your photography skills or learn before the fall and holiday photo opportunities. The class will be on Monday nights from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. October 11, 18, 25 and November 1, 2010. Each student will be expected to either have access or own an SLR digital or film camera.

Each week the students will have assignments. Outcomes will be discussed a the following class meeting.
Subject matter will encompass the understanding of manual, aperture priority and shutter priority, metering light, appropriate lens use, shutter speed, ISO speed, and aperture.

Class size is limited and in the past has filled up very quickly. I offer the class once a year, and limit the class size to no more than 10 students. Class enrollment will be on a first come first serve basis of registering and paying fees. Class fee is 225.00

I had the pleasure of photographing the Saccaro family a few weeks ago. What a great group of kids! I had a blast! So many great images to choose from....I thought that I would post a few here on the blog.

Lots of wrapping up here at the studio, and getting ready for our grand opening. We have set the date for October 1st., 2010 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. We will have Wine, refreshments, and

hors d' oeuvres'. Plus, we will include some door prizes, special portrait package pre-purchase pricing for our great friends. I'm so excited to see our clients and share our new loft studio with them. I also look to meet new clients from the other side of the river. I love this sweet little main st. and look forward to being here for a long time.

I'm also just returning from the State convention in New Orleans La. I attended the yearly PPLA (Professional Photographers of Louisiana) state convention. I decided to take some images and enter them into the Print Competition. I was so excited to sit in the judging room and listen to the judges critique the entries. I had three prints score very high and were given the award of court honor - received my "corners" But, one in particular image really scored HIGH and the judges loved it! How could they not? It's a precious portrait of a newborn infant in the middle of his slumber on a chair. I have to say I knew when I took it that it was going to be special to not only me, but his parents. One of the judges Mark Gerber, from Ohio gave it the "JUDGES CHOICE" AWARD yippee :) Needless to say, I am going to be attending the Southwest Professional Photographer's Conference in Texas this next month, taking my prints and seeing what they do.....and go from there.....maybe "LOAN" with the Professional Photographer's of America. Who knows? But, I really have enjoyed doing the print competitions and trying to push myself a little more to create timeless and professional pieces of work.

Another thing that the print competition has done, has inspired me to study and take my CPP exam. I plan on becoming a Certified Professional Photographer. With this certified credential, I hope that my clients will have faith that I have continued to study and push myself to provide them with the best professional pieces.

Huey P. Long-Stevison our mix of a pup made his modeling debut a few days ago! It's been a fun summer bringing Madeline to work, but she comes up with new decorating ideas, furniture and prop revamping and thoughts of different photo ops. Huey is our latest Photo Op!

We've had Huey for a while now, and he's definitely a permanent fixture in our family. Even though he throws a wrench into the mix with a poo-poo left in the foot paths way of Joel ~ just to keep him in line! We can't throw him out or take him to the pound! He's our dog. Taking the good with the bad!

We had a great time and really think that one day we will cherish these images more so then than now. Hope you enjoy! and stay tuned.....I'm going to start up with some great deals on portraits with your pets :)

Just a quick weekend post....I can't believe, summer is 1/2 over with! Where has the time gone?

I have had a wonderful summer and look forward to the cool temperatures along with the fall season. I'm looking forward to shooting some weddings this fall and working with High School Seniors. I'm enjoying the family portrait sessions this summer and of course the little babies and toddlers.

I had a great time meeting the Norems! I went to their home to photograph them. Where do you feel most happy and relaxed? If you are like me, you would say your home! Well, so did the Norems. They have such a beautiful home and yard we were limitless with the background settings. I love that they included the family pets!

I was honored when the magazine's editor called and asked if would mind to help them out with their feature wedding cover. Each month, I'm pleased that the magazine features one of my local wedding couples and their story. I just finished up with the layout of their wedding album and now realize that I wanted to post some of the wedding images.

Above click on triangle and view a short slide show of Ethan :) It's been a while since I've blogged.... I've noticed a repetition of this comment in my blogging. hmmm I had to fly out of town unexpectedly last week, and I've just returned, a matter of fact, last night. This was to be a family vacation week, but that's been cut short. Our plans not totally down the drain, we are going to take a short break his week. We are going to try the "stay-cation" and visit some of the historical and fun Louisiana spots here! Our daughter is 8 and it should be educational and fun for her to see her home state. I'll have to post some pics to the blog! I also, feel pretty good about keeping our dollars here in Louisiana....where we NEED it right now, especially at this unstable economic time. Later in July we will take another vacation to my home state, Missouri.

I'm so lucky to have been able to photograph Ethan! I photographed his mom earlier in my career and while she was in college. She has now graduated from college, married and has a precious healthy little boy named Ethan! I also enjoyed meeting Jessica's husband, Jim! I look forward to photographing them again!

What happened this week?

I've returned from an awesome weekend in Lafayette with some of my photographer friends. I took a class with LIME Education - Rick Najdzion from New Orleans and Jim Byron from New Orleans. I Started the weekend off with my daughter and husband, Joel He had a workshop on Friday and Saturday. So we tagged along and did some swimming and shopping. We also met some nice teachers that were taking part in the meeting too. They were discussing ~ Project Citizen! Joel's junior high kids have won this year at the National Level....and the kids will present to the local senators and possibly Washington DC. This isn't his student's first year winning, but THIRD YEAR! Go A.M.M.S. Jaguars!

Like I said we did swimming and shopping...I've posted a couple of pics. I was able to finally try out my underwater housing :) Then they left and I was on to my LIME education class. Thanks to my good friends Sheryl and John! I stayed with them and really got into a series on TV; Damages! I can't wait for this Monday....

I've posted some pics from the class! We had two great models! I'm going to catch up this week and post some of my recent client images! I have some weddings, babies, and families to post! Stay tuned...and ENJOY!

Meet Michael Thomas

I am sooo lucky that my friend Stephanie allowed me to photograph her new baby boy, Michael Thomas! I was able to get some adorable images of just Michael Thomas alone, but there was one image among the many that really moved me! It was so heartwarming to see Eric, John-Eric, & Michael Thomas all together in one image! As soon as I posed the three men and stepped back to my camera a sigh came from under my breath and I thought, wow....how beautiful is that? I looked over at Stephanie and she was grinning, with her infectious smile. I couldn't help but to think of what Stephanie was thinking or feeling as she looked on watching "her three men"? I HAD SUCH A GREAT TIME PHOTOGRAPHING SAM!!!! Samantha and I met not too long ago...photographed her older sister for Sr. portraits (Courtney). Her Mom thought that it would be nice to get some portraits of Sam and her favorite doggie. But, once I arrived at their home, I couldn't stop....there were so many great spots at the home to capture in the background that we photographed long into the late afternoon. I really was wanting to wait for the sun to set to capture the fun shots with her little sun hat on! Sam was a great sport! Yesterday was a good day! I had a blast photographing little babies in the studio all day. I'm posting a picture of Collin; one of the little babies. I am so happy that Joel and Dixie contacted me to let me know that they were expecting! I had photographed their wedding last year! When I say this baby was a dream to photograph...I am not exaggerating! He is soooooo precious! But, what baby isn't you say? Well, Collin was a DREAM~! I am so happy for any new parent, but especially happy for Joel and Dixie! Such a cute little Mama and Daddy! When I photograph babies it reminds me of when my daughter was so tiny. It makes me happy that someone else is going to or even feeling how I feel. That Mom and Dad are going to feel just as I do...and that gives us a common bond. You see, I am so in love with my daughter. I look forward to her long drawn out explanations of a movie or a plot from Zack and Cody or I - Carley or is it I - Carlie? I love it when she asks if I can put a little make up on her, when she hits the softball and the first base kid doesn't catch the ball and she gives me the "thumbs up" Fonzie.... I love everything about her! I could go on and on, but I'm going to post a picture (My favorite of Collin) and get home to my husband and daughter. Have a great day and Enjoy!

Today's been a great day

Today's been a great day! I met one of the sweetest couples, Linda & David Nugent. I can't wait to post a few pictures on the blog of them....Their daughter came in about a year ago and purchased a gift certificate for them. What a nice Idea? I see this a lot and think of it often. We naturally photograph special times and events in our lives...births, new additions, milestones, graduations, weddings, etc. But, what about everyday? What about our parents & grandparents? Once we have kids we naturally and graciously should step aside. It's not our turn for the spotlight....It's our children's' turn. I personally know and embrace this belief. But, now that I'm older and realize how important my parents were...molding, teaching, sacrificing, and unconditionally giving, it's sometimes too late? I think of this when I think of my parents and grandparents. I have heard so many stories of "Grandma Bessie Mae" (Joel's grandmother) and I feel a sense of absence not seeing many photographs of her...not really being able to put a face to the stories. Since becoming a photographer I have made a special effort to capture when my Mother and her real sister met for the first time about 8 years ago! I captures two sweet little girls, that missed out on growing up side by side each other and sharing secrets and laughs. After 60 + years finally meeting each other! That was one of my best days :) I' was able to capture some great portraits of my Grandma Browning before she passed. My father, My step father and his Clio Music group outside of Branson Mo! I'm so fortunate to be allowed into each and every ones' lives to help with preserving memories. And with that all I have to say is, Thank you so very much!

Summer is here! At the studio, I have the air conditioner running on high and my industrial fan is circulating the air along with the ceiling fans. When they say old, vintage, lofty and airy studio....they mean hard to heat and hard to keep cool. But, I LOOOOOVE it here and I am going to hang in there with this Louisiana weather :)

I'm posting a few pics and slide show from Devin's high school Sr. portrait session! We were able to capture some neat images that his parents really enjoyed, and still able to capture some images that really conveyed who he is and what he loves....can you guess?

Lynne, Christopher's mom suggested that we start Christopher's Sr. portrait session at his home in Pineville. We included his two dogs....as seen in the background of some of his images. Wow! They were wound up! A good way to start your morning. :) But, I LOVE dogs....so it was actually fun for me :) Then Emily, joined us for a few shots! We trekked around Alexandria, Pineville, to the Studio, and finished off at Johnny Downs Soccer Field! What a day! But, well worth it! It was an absolutely beautiful day for such a fun couple! Jeanne & Patrick were gorgeous! Their friends and family went out of their way to give Jeanne and Patrick a beautiful wedding & reception. Starting off the day with Jeanne and her brides maids while they were getting ready was a must! The Cathedral and Father Jose were great! Fa. Jose incorporated one of his traditions from his country into the ceremony! The couple look at each other and I catch the "We didn't rehearse this yesterday" look, when he suggests to the guests to reach into their pockets and purses and give him a quarter. Then he collects 8 quarters. He explains that this is a tradition in his country and this is all that the groom has to offer his bride, in substitution for a ring. He then brings the quarters to the groom to offer to the bride. The reception was held at the City Hall with DJ Tony Groove and Jacquie's Catering. The reception closed the night with a strraight-out-of-the-nineties DANCE OFF! Thanks so much Jeanne & Patrick! Congratulations and Enjoy! Susan

End of a busy week

I can't believe that it's Friday! A busy week but, a productive one. I was invited back to Steps by Stephanie to photograph the students for their upcoming recital year. I'll have to post a few soon.

I also finished up some work with families and H.S. Seniors. But, one family I want to mention is Amanda & Joe's family. I photographed them when they became proud new parents to twins about three years ago, and then again a few weeks ago when they brought in their third daughter.

Three years ago, I think one of the most touching moments with the twins had to be when I placed them on the ground together and they squirmed and flailed their held hands until they were clasped with each other! Amanda told me that the two would reach out for each others hand all the time. So, when she and Joe brought the twins in with their little sister, I knew that they would reach out for her hand as they did last time....They did and it came out so sweet!

Well, it's been a while since I've blogged....isn't that the story from most photographers? We get so busy in everything that it takes to make a photograph; meeting with clients, choosing favorite images, retouching, printing, packaging and all else that takes place in running a business. Our other tasks take a back seat.

But, I am getting ready for Jacob and Joshua's mom to come in to the studio today to pick up the beautiful giclee' canvas portraits with floating frames! My lab is now offering a framing service! What a nice surprise and help to the busy customer. The frames are very reasonable and solid WOOD! They are gorgeous! I've posted a few of Tracey's and Gloria's favorites and a few of mine too. I'll post some pics of the images in the frames in a couple of days.....let's let Tracey see them first. :)

Rachael Borak's Sr. Portrait Session

I've been a little busy getting everything set up at the second studio: 639 Main St., Pineville, LA. It's been awhile since I've posted any portrait sessions, especially with the holiday portrait sessions....I'll get to work, but until then enjoy a few of our favorite Sr. portraits of Rachael.

Rachael is a high school Sr. at ASH and came to me in the middle of the transition to the new studio spot in Pineville. I encouraged her to wait a month to take her Sr. Portraits in order to be able to use the new studio and also go to my previous studio....two for the price of one if you will? :) Rachael looks great and we had a lot of fun!

Santa Came to Town

It's been a busy month! Lot of posts to do...but, I wanted to get some cute shots from our Santa Clause visit. LSU Santa made it unique and then he followed the next day with his traditional attire. And to top it all off we raised over 500.00 from session fees that we donated to ST. JUDES!

on December 4th and 5th. We are going to have so much FUN!!!!

LSU Santa will be at the studio on the 4th of December (Friday)

& Traditional Santa will be at the studio on the 5th of December (Saturday)

Sessions are limited! We are almost full on Saturday!

Session fees are 20.00 and 25.00 and will be donated to St. Jude's

I'm taking family portraits at the studio (River Oaks) on the 23rd of November. These sessions are short and sweet for 20 minutes.

The package is $149.00 and includes the session fee, 1 box of 24 greeting cards, 1-8x10 and

1 facebook photo!

Sessions are limited and slots are filling up fast.

We have four slots open as of Wednesday. Call us to schedule your session.

If the 23rd doesn't work out for you, we are also taking regular session appointments through November until December 7th with guaranteed delivery before Christmas!

Santa is coming to River Oaks - Susan Stevison Photography

15 minute Mini Sessions with Santa. You can have your childs Christmas portrait taken, and then Santa will arrive to surprise him or her. After your child meets Santa he/she will then get to visit with Santa and look over his "nice list". During this 15 minute session each child will have a variety of unique and fun poses taken.

Well, it's that time of year again!

The Alexandria Town Talk Baby Calender Contest winners! I am so glad that the Town Talk has asked me to photograph the winners this year! 13 cute little guys and girls under the age of 4 years old :) Last year was a blast, but I had about two weeks to photograph them :) This year I have one week EEEEK to photograph them ALL ! Jenny and Jason are a great couple~ I've been working with them for a while now and I'm so excited to get to finally photograph their wedding. Here are some images from their engagement session that we did at their home earlier this year. When we sat down and discussed what we wanted to do have as our "backdrop" during their engagement shots....we came up with what they can be found doing on a day off or a Sunday. Just enjoying each other and relaxing away from the world.....In their free time their favorite thing to do is sit around the house, drink coffee {I totally relate~gulp}and hang out with their doggies. So, enjoy some personal images of Jason and Jenny. They are getting married tomorrow and I am so excited to be able to be a part of this day with them!

Hannah & Matthew High School Sr. Session

I had such a great time getting to photograph Hannah & her boyfriend, Matthew. They are both High School Seniors! To make this such a great time, we photographed at her Grandmother's home! One of my FAVORITE places! I feel as If I am in Greece every time I visit! What a joy to be able to shoot around there. Matthew and Hannah might not have felt the JOY that I did, but they did finally get in the mood. We got together EARLY Sunday morning, the morning after PHS homecoming! After a few jolts of caffeine...they made it and we came up with some fun and interesting images!

It's Saturday morning and my ritual started yesterday! I attended Andrea & Clark's wedding rehearsal! Even though my husband wanted to attend the ASH vs PINEVILLE...long story, and you all know how I can make a long story short....yep...LONGER. Let's say; thank goodness it was on TV and he and his buddies could watch it at home! :)

Anyway, I was able to go to the rehearsal last night and get an idea of how things will go today. I think it will be fabulous! I'll have my friend from Lafayette and his wife helping out too. We'll be at Lloyd Hall today :) Rain or Shine.....lets think SHINE :)

I've charged the batteries, cleaned the camera, rewritten my checklist, formatted the memory cards, packed the car..... I think I am ready to go :) But, I wanted to post a slide show of Andrea and Clark's engagement session! They are such a great couple - High School Sweet Hearts and ASH Alumni! We were able to capture some really cute shots of them at their meeting place-the Ash workout gym! I can't wait to post her bridals tonight (of course you can't see the bride yet) and then the wedding are reception to follow! Enjoy
